1st day of School and at a New School!
Monday August 26th was my 2 oldest first day of school! (3rd gr. and 1st gr.). Its a little nerve racking as a parent to send your two oldest to school all day! It's a change in pace from Kindergarten! It's nice not knowing I go to the school 3 times a day, but I also have my youngest who is going to be 5 the end of September with me all day long. It's like I have 1 child again! It is easier and I do get a lot done! Although I am teaching my youngest at home preschool. Preschool......too much money and too over rated! She can learn just at much or more at home with me. She also has friends in the neighborhood that she can still play with and get her Social Media in for the day!
Back to my 2 oldest. Before we moved into our home, by the end of the school year they had been to 3 different schools. Yes it was hard, but they managed and did well! This year was a little different for me! Kids in the neighborhood had gone to Jefferson Academy (Charter School in W. kaysville), and some had liked it and some not and some had also went to No. Davis Prep. (charter school also in layton). I decided to put my kids in for the Lottery for Jefferson Academy. I hadn't heard from them all Summer, until the week that school started. On a Tuesday night I got in the mail something for Marissa saying that she had been accepted and was welcoming her. I called the next day and I guess there was a misshape because she really didn't get it, so I called the District who is over the Charter Schools and they made a few phone calls for me and called me back saying, "This must be your lucky day because both of your kids are in!" I was trilled but nervous at the same time. On wed, I went to the school to talk to them and actually went back twice to give them info and they actually went to meet their new teachers! At this school they do wear a Uniform, but the colors are Navy Blue, white, gray and Maroon. They have to wear a Polo shirt with a color of pants/shorts and girls can wear dresses, shorts or pants in those colors. On Thursday, I ended up not working, so my neighbor and I rushed to a couple of stores to get our kids some clothes. I was a little perturbed, because I had just gotten them cute school clothes for school and then they can't wear them! Oh well! They wear them now after school and on Sunday!
So this Monday (august 26th), my kids started their 4th school! Sad, I know, but we all decided this together and it was the right decision for our family to have our kids go there! I want them to have a good education and Layton Elem, just wasn't doing it for my kids the time I was there, so we decided to try out the Charter Schools and see what they have to offer!
The kids are doing great so far. Only 2 day's in. They are making friends and I am grateful for that! I think it will be a good year and it will be fun for them! Wish us luck!

They look so cute! I'm so glad they are enjoying their new school and I hope their excitment continues!
So fun! That had to be frustrating not knowing what school your kids would go to until the week it starts AND having to get all new clothes! Wow, you go girl :) Have fun with one kid at home!
